New Hot Forming Die with Cooling System

  1. In order to achieve uniform shape of the formed structural component, the highest temperature must be on the bottom punch, i.e. at the end of the fixed punch, and the smallest temperature has to be at the end of the upper (moving) axial punch.
  2. If the axial punches are moving simultaneously towards each other, at the beginning of the forming process in order to achieve uniform shape of the formed structural component, the highest temperature must be in the middle of the tubular blank and the smallest temperature has to be at the ends of the tube.
  3. The highest temperature is equal to 0.9 tM (where tM is the melting point of the thermoplastic) and the smallest one is equal 0.8 tM. At the end of the forming process, the temperature has to be uniformly distributed along the formed structural component (0.7-0.8 tM).
  4. When forming has been completed the die must be cooled in a controlled manner to reduce shrinkage, prior to opening the die.
